A convincing industry approach: SupplyOn’s Rail Community boosts the efficiency of the railway industry

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), with around 34,000 employees, a transport network of over 3,000 kilometers and almost a half billion passengers per year, is the national railway company of Switzerland, consisting of the four divisions Passenger Transportation, Cargo, Infrastructure and Real Estate. In 2016, the division Passenger Transportation took the initiative to transition the ordering process, until then carried out with high manual effort by email and fax, to a continuous digital process using the RailSupply solution from SupplyOn. Railway Forum 2016: A focus on digitalization

The Railway Forum organized by IPM opened its doors for the fourth time on February 29. SupplyOn once again set up a booth at the event. Digital collaboration in the railway industry – optimized with RailSupply

Thorsten Fülling, Director of Consulting at SupplyOn AG, gave Privatbahn Magazin #05/2015 an interview on the subject of "Collaboration between suppliers and production companies in the railway industry".Mr Fülling, what are the greatest challenges in the supply chain at present between suppliers and production companies in the railway industry?The biggest challenge for the railway industry stems from the effects of globalization in the procurement markets. The fact that this industry has no generally applicable standards with respect to supply chain processes results in highly complex and variable processes, particularly when purchasing from a global market. Furthermore, the rail industry too has seen the depth of production become considerably smaller in recent years, while the increased division of labour has led to a higher level of interaction and collaboration in the respective processes.
