bauma 2019: Digitization gains ground in the construction equipment industry

The bauma took place again from April 8 to 14, 2019 at the exhibition grounds in Munich-Riem. With 3,702 exhibitors from 63 countries and regions and an exhibition area of 614,000 m² (more than 6.6 million square feet), it is the largest trade fair in the world.Trending themes: Alternative power systems, autonomous driving and digitizationAt bauma, too, the topic of alternative power sources and the autonomous operation of excavators and other construction machinery was one of the main topics.  (more…)

On March 4, 2019, Professor Dr. Tsipoulanidis, HWR Berlin, invited SupplyOn to give a guest lecture at the Business School of the Berlin School of Economics and Law on the digitization of the supply chain. Digital transformation, what a nice and trendy topic that is in everyone’s mouth, but not yet implemented in everyone’s company.In fact, digital transformation is getting popular due to the democratization of technology and relatively lower cost of acquisition. More and more companies look at it closer and closer, some jump into it, while others still wait and see. Nothing wrong with that. This is part of the normal cycle regarding technology adoption.The only difference is that in the past decade, companies still had time to wait, see, and then move forward. Nowadays, even though the key question remains “WHEN”, the truth is that there is not much time to waste on the “wait & see” pushing companies to start taking action and the real question is at “WHAT SPEED”. Construction Equipment Forum: Paths to digitizing the industry

The Construction Equipment Forum - the first event of its kind.On October 9, 2018, the IPM Institutes's Construction Forum opened its doors for the first time to some 200 participants from various disciplines: building companies, OEMs, suppliers, representatives of the scientific community, and service providers. Professor Walther of IPM opened the event with a keynote speech on “Driving the future”, addressing alternative propulsions, automation, digitization, and competition. He emphasized the need to increase at digital competencies in the building equipment industry.Due to the large number of speeches and talks held, Walther has compiled a subjective selection of what for him were the most prominent presentations and workshops.
