Famous Easter eggs
Probably you already detected that programmers have a special kind of humor. That humor leads often to strange things – but programmers can laugh about it, even though normal humans might not. So they hide certain things inside of programs like Easter Bunny hides his eggs in hedges and grass. In the following you will find some samples of those Easter eggs – which at least I found very funny.
You can try the following search in Google: Do a barrel roll. Something quite funny will happen.
Of course nothing happens if you don’t try it in Chrome – it is a Google Easter Egg!
I’m not quite sure if that is really an Easter Egg or a hidden function. But at least it is really funny.
But here is someting which is really an Easter Egg: You can enter the following coordinates in Google
1.2+(sqrt(1-(sqrt(x^2+y^2))^2) + 1 – x^2-y^2) * (sin (10 * (x*3+y/5+7))+1/4) from -1.6 to 1.6
Often Easter Eggs are not quite valid only for Eastern. Moreover they are even used by testers to ensure the quality of the software. Especially localization testing is quite boring and even expensive. Therefore special ways are searched for to test language options and still have fun with it.
You can select the language English (Pirate) or English (Upsidedown) at Facebook. With the Pirate option you will get some piracy entries. Upsidedown leads to what you expect – every text stays on its head.
YouTube
More often programmers are nerds. And as you probably know, each nerd is a fan of Star Trek – as is true for me. Even though I don’t know if I really am a nerd. But the programmers of YouTube definetly are. If you search for Beam me up, Scotty, you can see, what happens when videos are beamed up.
Apple
Even Apple’s programmers have fun when creating new things. So it is possible that Siri tells you a Good Night Story. You only have to ask for it: Please read me a story.
I hope, you found the samples of those Easter Eggs as funny as me. If you search for Easter Egg you definetly will find more. Have fun with it.
Happy Easter!
